I'm a UK trained Fine Artist and professional illustrator and graphic designer, with experience working in central London and Melbourne. I have created illustrations for major corporations and first time authors. I work digitally, in a natural, painterly style, with a focus on strong character design.
My illustrated picture book package includes:
- Initial 'Look & Feel' moodboard with colour palette & style direction
- Individual character design & development
- Pencilled storyboards and thumbnailing for every page
- Front & Back Cover and endpapers design
If you are looking for your text to be formatted and your book designed and prepared for print, you may be interested in my other book package, which you can also find on Kindrling.
I include two rounds of development, in collaboration with you, the author at the sketch stage, to ensure you are happy with the design before moving to the painting and rendering stage. A final round of minor amends are permitted after painting.
I offer a relaxed and friendly free half hour phone/video call consultation prior to booking to discuss my services and work process in more detail, with no obligation to commit.
A recent client has been kind enough to write a testimonial, based on our collaboration:
"I collaborated with Rebecca to create Parsley Mimblewood Saves the World: How to NOT go to School, and the sequel, Parsley Mimblewood Saves the World AGAIN: How to go Back to School. These story books were responses to school shutdown during lockdown which became viral hits downloaded over 120,000 times around the world and translated into 4 languages.
I was drawn to Rebecca by the fantastically characterful illustrations in her portfolio but during the course of the project I was frequently flabbergasted by everything else she brought to the table: a detailed knowledge of the publishing world, a keen marketing mind, boundless professionalism and deep, deep investment in the story.
When I sent her my illustration brief, I thought I had a rich 3-dimensional understanding of the characters in my manuscript but the concept illustrations she returned a few days later not only chimed so clearly with my vision for them but played out their personalities in even greater depth and detail than I had thought of.
I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Rebecca and am so grateful for her support which has now helped me to gain representation with a literary agency. I could not recommend her highly enough."
I look forward to hearing from you and discussing your project!
